Flagging & Commenting on Label Results
Reviewing a label is often more than a simple accept, edit, or remove. Sometimes a value needs a second opinion, two reviewers disagree, or there's context worth leaving for the rest of the team. Flags and comments let you capture that directly on a result, so triage and discussion happen alongside the data instead of in a separate thread.
Both are visible to and editable by every project member.
Adding a Flag
Flag icons appear in the Status column of variable result tables, near the Accept / Edit / Remove buttons.

- Click the flag icon to open a color picker with three options: Teal, Orange, and Gray.
- Click a color to apply the flag. The icon fills with that color and the popover closes.
- To change the color, click the icon again and choose a different one.
- To remove a flag, click the icon and use the "Remove Flag" button at the bottom of the popover.
Each value can have one flag at a time. Setting or removing a flag overwrites whatever was there before.
Adding a Comment
Comment icons appear next to the flag icon in the Status column.

- Click the comment icon to open a text box.
- Type your comment and click "Save."
- To edit an existing comment, click the icon, update the text, and click "Save."
- To remove a comment, click the icon and use the "Delete" button.
Existing comments show a line noting who last edited them and when. Each value can have one comment at a time; saving new text replaces the old comment.
Filtering by Flags and Comments
Results tables also have the option to filter by flags or comments.
To access:
- Go to a label table (like the Label View for a Patient or all labels for a Variable)
- Click "Filters"
- Click "Flags and Comments"
- You can filter for labels with a specific flag color, no flag, labels with a comment, or labels with no comment.
Exporting Flags and Comments
The Detailed Export also includes six new columns: Flag, Flag last edited by, Flag last edited, Comment, Comment last edited by, and Comment last edited. These are blank for any value without a flag or comment.
Good to Know
- Flags and comments persist through review status changes (e.g. Accept to Edit), but are removed automatically if the review status itself is cleared or the underlying document is removed from the project.
- If you re-run label generation, flags and comments follow the same rule as review status: cleared if you choose to clear all values, preserved if you choose to keep human-generated values.
- Any project member can view, add, edit, or remove a flag or comment on any value.
