How to Manually Add a Label

Sometimes you want to manually add a label in Brim. This could be because:

  • You simply want to add a single value.
  • You want to manually label a dataset in Brim to use for Validation

This process is simple in Brim:

  1. Make sure the variable you want to add a label for is already defined (in Project Setup)
  2. Go to the document that has the evidence you want to reference. Label Review > By Patient > Choose an MRN > Document View > Choose a Document > Click "View"
  3. Click "Add Label" in the top of the left sidebar.
  4. Configure your manual label:
    1. Select a variable
    2. Enter the label
    3. Enter the Text Evidence. We recommend copy and pasting the relevant text from the document, which will allow Brim to auto-highlight it in context for future review.
  5. Click "Add"

You can see the steps in action below:

Once you manually add a variable, that value is treated like a reviewed label:

  • Exported
  • Used for Validation
  • Used as a training example when optimizing variables.
  • and more
