July 2025 Release Notes

🧪Don’t Just Take Our Word for It: The Validation Tool

Brim now makes it easy to evaluate your Brim abstraction output against a comparison dataset.

This makes it simple to:

  • Instantly understand how abstraction with your Brim variable set compares to manual review or a golden data set.
  • Track improvements over time as you iterate on variables.
  • Protect against data drift by reviewing a small set of data and comparing.

You can find the tool in Project Setup or your Settings menu. Simply upload your comparison dataset as a CSV and Brim will automatically calculate agreement with every generation.

🔁 End-to-End Research Workflows with REDCap Export

Brim now integrates directly with REDCap for import and export, bringing your protocol full circle.

  • Import variables directly from your REDCap data dictionary
  • Generate an abstraction, review the results, and iterate until you hit the mark.
  • Export structured data right back into REDCap

Read more about how to do this here.

Also in this Release

  • End Users prompted to agree to Terms of Service on login if they have not yet agreed.
  • Gracefully handle duplicate data in upload
  • Basic explicit variable referencing in variable & DV instructions (using "{")
  • Reasoning-Feedback-Optimization loop for Many Label Per Note variables.
  • Packaged Azure Deployments
  • Other small bugs and fixes.
