Visualizing Your Variable System
It can be helpful to see how all of your variables fit together, both to help you navigate a complex variable system, and to track the origin of a value for a specific patient.
Brim's Variable Hierarchy View does just that.
Accessing the Variable Hierarchy View
To access the Variable Hierarchy View, go to Project Setup, click on "Dependent Variables", and click the small hierarchy icon next to the dependent variable you want to visualize.
You can also access the Variable Hierarchy View when looking at a dependent variable value for a specific patient. You can do this by:
- Going to Label Review, selecting "By Patient" at the top, and selecting the specific patient.
- Finding the dependent variable you want to visualize by sorting, filtering, or searching the list.
- Accessing the reasoning for the value with the question mark icon.
- Clicking the small hierarchy icon to open the Variable Hierarchy View.
Using the Variable Hierarchy View
At the top of the variable hierarchy view, you'll see the dependent variable you selected. Below that in levels, you'll see each variable that is an input to the dependent variable.
You can use this to understand your variable system as you modify it.
If you're viewing this variable for a specific patient, you'll see the values associated with each variable and dependent variable.
